Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!: Adventures of a Curious Character by Richard P. Feynman

From cracking safes for the Los Alamos Research Lab at the height of the Manhattan Project to almost turning down the Noble Prize, Richard Feynman lead, as the subtitle suggests a curious life. If you have better than a layman's understanding of physics this book is going to be up your alley. If you don't, there is still enough hijinks to keep you turning the pages.

Feynman is an interesting figure and I am sure the people who knew him better could tell stories that would pale those included here. Still this autobiography, as many do, only scratches the surface of the good, the bad, and the ugly. From what I've read elsewhere, there is a lot more of all three. Still, I think there is a fair assessment of his life. After all it's the autobiographers prerogative to include or exclude what they want. Who wouldn't leave out a few thing here, and inflate a few things there.

Certainly entertaining, I am not sure exactly who I could reasonably recommend it for. It is challenging to read at time with the physical and scientific jargon, BUT, it is fun to hear about the playful nature and trouble Feynman was able to dust up during his life time. As often the case with those of higher intellect, he found creatively fruitful ways to enjoy his life.
