Love, friendship, clothes, and of course music. Me & Patsy kickin' up dust : my friendship with Patsy Cline by Loretta Lynn is a fun read that leaves you ready for a honky tonk, pot luck, and of course some tears.
Mostly a memoir of their friendship, this isn't a full fledged, tell-all biography on either Cline or Lynn. Still it is deeply personal and intimate. We hear the gossip they shared, trials they weathered, and clothes they swapped. The good times and the hard times, like any good country singer's repertoire, are spread out there for us to see.
Perhaps the biggest take away is emphasis on the bond that can form between two people. In the world we live today, those bonds are strained, but Lynn and Cline made it through toils of their own together. And did so with compassion for each other that is enviable.
Worth the time, especially if you want something that is equal parts light and warm.
